Top Spin store receives Recycling spotlight

In 2023, the outstanding partner in the Gear Tips Recycling Program was the Top Spin Store in Teresópolis, Rio de Janeiro! They sent 194 used gas cartridges for recycling. We would like to thank the TopSpin Store team and Flávio for all their support for the Recycling Program! That’s how we make a difference!

Caparaó receives first collector in National Park

We installed the first Gas Cartridge Recycling Program collector in a National Park. The equipment was delivered to the Caparaó National Park. From now on, all adventurers who pass through the Espírito Santo Gate will be able to dispose of their empty cartridges properly. When it’s full, our partner Caminhantes do Caparaó will take care of the disposal logistics together with the Aguapé Cooperative. We’re really happy about this historic moment. We hope to spread these collectors to all the National Parks soon!

Check out the video on Instagram where Bruno Negreiros, Gear Tips’ Social and Environmental Responsibility Coordinator, explains how the collector works to the Park staff.

We won the Mountain Protection Award!

On October 21, 2023 Gear Tips won the UIAA Mountain Protection Award! According to Pedro Lacaz Amaral, CEO of Gear Tips: “To have a project recognized internationally by the most important institution in world mountaineering is an honor! It was exciting to present the project to hundreds of people from over 40 countries! Even more exciting was realizing how much the project impressed everyone present! After the awards ceremony, I spent a few hours explaining the details of the project to various federations that were interested in developing a Gas Cartridge Recycling Program in their countries! I’d also like to thank the entire Gear Tips Outdoor team who, each in their own way, helped us achieve this recognition, the collection points and brands that support us and everyone who encourages us in some way.”

Collector at the Rio Mountain Festival

On October 17, the 18th edition of the Rio Mountain Festival, a renowned film festival that celebrates life outdoors, opened at the Banco do Brasil Cultural Center (CCBB). During all the days of the event, the Recycling Program’s cartridge collector was available at the entrance to the cinema, where anyone could dispose of their gas cartridges used on their camping trips correctly. To celebrate the festival and sustainability, we had the pleasure of welcoming those who designed and created the Recycling Program collector: Victor Cruz and Davi Rezende, as well as Bruno Negreiros, who is responsible for the program and Gear Tips’ social and environmental work.

We will neutralize all our carbon emissions by 2022

We are proud to announce that we have neutralized all our carbon emissions in 2022 by planting 8 native Atlantic forest trees in ecological restoration projects carried out in the Peixe and Camanducaia river basins, located in the south of Minas Gerais and east of the state of São Paulo. This planting was carried out by the Copaíba organization, an environmental association that is a reference in reforestation projects and is active in defending the Atlantic Forest. This demonstrates and reinforces our commitment to sustainability and to creating a greener future.
