Sustainability is one of Gear Tips’ pillars and the neutralization of carbon emissions is part of our environmental actions, both at our events and in our operations as a whole. These actions reflect our commitment to minimizing our environmental impact and contributing to a greener future.

We need to neutralize
Gear Tips was the first institution in Brazil’s outdoor activities segment to neutralize the carbon emissions generated by its main events held in 2022 and 2023. In total, we offset the emissions of 40.77 tons of CO2 equivalent by planting 249 trees which, as they establish and grow, will offset our emissions over an approximate 30-year lifespan.
Neutralized Gear Tips Events
Since we began our neutralization actions, we have already neutralized the emissions from the following events:

- III Cultural and Scientific Mountaineering Conference
- 18th Rio Mountain Festival
- Pilgrim Experience
- IV Cultural and Scientific Mountaineering Conference
In the last Jornada, held in 2023, in addition to neutralizing the direct emissions emitted, we also planted one tree per participant in the event, thus increasing our scope and positive impact.
The work was carried out together with OCT – Organization for the Conservation of the Earth, an institution active in environmental conservation projects, which carried out the planting in the Pratigi Environmental Protection Area, which is part of the Mosaic of APAS in the lower south of Bahia.

Gear Tips also neutralizes all the company’s carbon emissions. In 2022 and 2023, twenty-four native Atlantic Forest trees were planted in ecological restoration projects in the basins of the Peixe and Camanducaia rivers, in the south of Minas Gerais and east of the state of São Paulo, and in the Pratigi Environmental Protection Area, in the south of Bahia. The plantings were carried out by environmental organizations specializing in reforestation projects working to protect the Atlantic Forest.
We mapped the electricity use of all the team members during working hours, the journeys made in our specific activities and the production of advertising material. In the end, we applied a wide margin of error and arrived at a total of 3.52 tons of carbon equivalent emitted and neutralized.
Our proposal is to carry out neutralization during all our years of operation, from 2022 onwards. Our 2024 emissions, for example, will be neutralized in 2025.
